Behavioral Health Provider Survey

The Health Care Authority (HCA) regularly conducts a survey of behavioral health agencies (BHAs) to identify opportunities for improving the quality of behavioral health treatment services in Washington State and to meet federal and state reporting requirements.

About the survey

The survey has three main sections.

  • Agency characteristics: Asks about the organization type, client population, and treatment and prevention services provided.
  • Quality improvement: Includes questions about methods used by agencies to improve client retention and outcome, and to assess clients’ perception of the quality of care they receive.
  • Behavioral health staffing: Covers questions related to demographic and other characteristics of behavioral health clinical staff.

Who participates?

Agencies that are community-based, publicly funded, and have active Department of Health licenses are invited to participate.

HCA works collaboratively with the Social and Economic Sciences Research Center (SESRC) at Washington State University to administer the survey.
