About the Health Care Authority (HCA)
Be aware of Medicaid renewal scams
Washington has received reports of fake texts and phone calls to Apple Health (Medicaid) clients about renewing their Apple Health coverage. We’re asking Apple Health clients to be aware of suspicious contact seeking money to maintain their health coverage. View our announcement for more information.
Programs and initiatives
HCA is the largest health care purchaser in Washington State. We serve more than 2.5 million people through our Apple Health (Medicaid), Public Employees Benefits Board (PEBB), and School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) programs. We also provide behavioral health services to all residents of Washington State, regardless of insurance. For people enrolled in Apple Health, that's about 2.2 million people. Through a wide range of programs and initiatives, HCA ensures Washington residents access to better health, better care, and lower costs.
Who we are
We are committed to whole-person care, integrating physical and behavioral health services to create better results and healthier residents.
Data and reports
Data is one of HCA's most valuable assets, helping strengthen our ability to make decisions based on reliable, timely, and accurate information. HCA’s data strategy demonstrates a commitment to ensuring that all Washingtonians have access to the care they need when they need it.
Other administrative activities
The Health Care Authority administers fraud prevention, program integrity, and public disclosure activities, ensuring government transparency and the responsible use of public funds.
