Spoken language interpreter services procurement update
The Health Care Authority (HCA) has initiated a Request For Proposal (RFP) to seek proposals from vendors who will provide scheduling and billing software and administrative services for spoken language interpretation. The selected vendor will coordinate spoken language interpretation services for HCA contracted Apple Health (Medicaid) enrolled health care providers, including:
- In-person interpreting (IPI)
- Over-the-phone interpreting (OPI)
- Video-remote interpreting (VRI)
The RFP period closed January 7, 2026. An apparent successful bidder (ASB) has been announced via WEBs. The ASB is Universal Language Service, Inc.
Next steps
HCA Contract Number K2474 (spoken language in-person interpretation) and K4724 (spoken language over-the-phone interpretation and video remote interpretation) will expire June 30, 2026.
Effective July 1, 2026, both contracts will be replaced by the sample contract included in the RFP and any subsequent changes negotiated with the ASB.
More information will be shared about changes that impact Apple Health providers once the new contract is executed. The new contract will be executed by March 31, 2026.
