Washington Health Benefit Exchange (HBE), in partnership with the Health Care Authority (HCA) and the Office of the Insurance Commissioner, are working together to implement Cascade Care. Senate Bill 5377, which passed during the 2021 legislative session, provides additional guidance for Cascade Care.
What is Cascade Care?
Cascade Care creates new, affordable health insurance coverage options for Washington Healthplanfinder customers. Cascade Care became available January 1, 2021, and the program continues to grow.
Washington Healthplanfinder offers individual market coverage, which is different from Apple Health (Medicaid) or employer-sponsored coverage. Our Public Employees Benefits Board and School Employees Benefits Board programs are examples of employer-sponsored coverage.
How do I...
The goals of Cascade Care are to increase the availability of quality, affordable health coverage in the individual market, and ensure residents in every Washington county have a choice of qualified health plans.
