SEB Board looks at budget, new laws, a legislative report, and COBRA subsidy
On May 5, 2021, the School Employees Benefits Board (SEB Board) met virtually. The meeting was open to the public via Zoom.
Highlights of the meeting are listed below. See the briefing book for all presentation materials.
- Staff presented an update on the 2021-23 state operating budget, including the final funding rate and collective bargaining.
- Staff updated the Board on laws passed during the 2021 legislative session, including a bill clarifying the existing prohibition of dual enrollments between SEBB and PEBB programs.
- The Board was briefed on a report to the Legislature on the projected impacts of variable funding rates based on whether employees waive SEBB benefits.
- Staff explained how the SEBB Program is administering the American Rescue Plan Act as it pertains to certain COBRA subscribers.
The next public meeting of the SEB Board is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 3. Board members and the public may attend virtually via Zoom. The link and call-in number will be noted on the meeting agenda, which will be posted on the SEB Board Meetings and materials webpage.
