School employee benefits legislation enacted into law

Mon, 03/26/2018

On March 23, 2018, Governor Jay Inslee signed Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill (ESSB) 6241 into law. The new law, initially requested as legislation by the Health Care Authority (HCA), amends legislation passed in 2017 that created the School Employees Benefits Board (SEB Board) and School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Program.

The HCA will administer insurance benefits under the SEBB Program for employees of school districts and charter schools, and union-represented employees of educational service districts, starting in 2020.
