HealthEquity introduces multifactor authentication
HealthEquity introduces multifactor authentication (MFA)
HealthEquity is the administrator for the health savings accounts that come with the PEBB Program’s consumer-directed health plans.
When is HealthEquity introducing MFA?
This summer, HealthEquity will add another level of security to its online portal: multifactor authentication (MFA).
What is MFA?
MFA uses multiple pieces of information to confirm your identity when you log in to the portal:
- Username and password.
- Access to an external account (phone or email) where a verification code is sent.
After you enter your username and password, the portal will send a verification code to the phone number or email address you provide. You enter that verification code to finish logging in to the portal.
This feature will help protect your account by making it harder for a fraudulent user to get access to your account—they can’t break in with just your username and password. You will need to complete MFA:
- Every time you log in to the HealthEquity portal from a new device.
- When you log in after clearing your browser cache.
- If you do not select “Remember this device” after entering the verification code.
