HCA requests claims data from insurance carriers for SEBB Program
The Legislature recently passed Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill (ESSB) 6241, which changed the data gathering requirements and submission deadlines related to the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Program.
What does ESSB 6241 do?
ESSB 6241 authorizes the HCA to gather data from insurance carriers that currently serve populations in Washington State that will be covered under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Program. The HCA will administer school employees’ benefits under the SEBB Program starting January 1, 2020.
When are claims data due and how will they be used?
According to Section 14(3) of ESSB 6241, insurance carriers that currently serve the school employee population must provide the requested claims data and other information by April 1, 2018. This data will support the SEBB Program’s future benefit designs, procurement activities, and risk pool analyses to establish future employer and employee cost sharing.
