Certificate of coverage self-service now available for Apple Health (Medicaid) clients
Washington Apple Health (Medicaid) clients can now request their certificate of coverage (proof of coverage) through Heath Care Authority's (HCA) self-service phone system (1-800-562-3022) or online through the ProviderOne client portal for up to 7 years of coverage. With this new automated self-service process clients have more flexibility and can request proof of coverage at times that work best for them. This eliminates the need for clients to call during business hours and reduces wait times.
Clients use certificates of coverage for tax purposes and to dispute billing issues. During January through April, the HCA Medical Assistance Customer Service Center (MACSC) receives an average of 1,200 requests monthly of which 40 percent required manual compiling and printing. Demand for certificates are expected to rise as the Apple Health caseload has increased by almost 100,000 clients since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Any time we can do self-service or automation it makes life easier for our clients,” said Rose, from MACSC Operations.
This new automated process can be a stepping stone for further self-service options for years to come. For more information about the ProviderOne client portal visit the Apple Health account logins webpage.
