Beware of scam targeting Medicare Supplement Plan F members
A phone scam is targeting PEBB retirees enrolled in Premera Blue Cross Medicare Supplement Plan F. The caller says they represent Premera Blue Cross and you must change your health plan. Then, they offer to transfer you to a plan you can sign up for. If you receive a call like this, from 1-760-313-1263 or any other number, do not give them any information. This call is not from Premera, and you do not need to change plans.
If you’d like to confirm your enrollment with Premera, call 1-800-817-3049. If you get this call, report this scam and others like it to the Federal Trade Commission. You can also report the scam to the Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) by calling 1-800-562-6900.
How to protect yourself
Always be cautious about giving out your personal information over the phone. The PEBB Program and Premera Blue Cross will never try to convince you to change to a particular health plan.
If you suspect a call is a scam, do not respond to immediate requests for information or action (like “I need your information today,” or “You must change your health plan immediately.”)
To lower the number of scam calls you receive, register your phone number with the National Do Not Call Registry. If you continue to receive scam calls, hang up and report them directly to the registry.
