World Suicide Prevention Day

In 2019, 97,339 people died by suicide in the Region of the Americas and it is estimated that 20 times that number may have made suicide attempts. Saturday, September 10 was World Suicide Prevention Day. The day was organized by the International Association for Suicide Prevention and endorsed by the World Health Organization.

This year's theme for World Suicide Prevention Day was Creating Hope Through Action.

Everyone can take action to prevent suicide.

HCA in collaboration with the Department of Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the Governor’s office has created a suicide prevention toolkit. The toolkit offers talking points, resources, and language that can be used by anyone and everyone to help prevent suicide.
