Governor honors HCA employee with Lifesaving Award

Awards on a table

Sue Green, a project director in the Health Care Authority’s (HCA) Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery, received the Governor’s Lifesaving Award for saving a life while on duty. When she entered HCA’s parking lot, she observed someone experiencing an overdose and administered lifesaving treatment in September 2022.

Sue recognized the signs of an opioid overdose and was able to help because she had access to naloxone that HCA keeps on-site. Naloxone is designed to be administered by anyone, won’t harm anyone, and can reverse the effects of opioids during an overdose.
