HCA announces shutdown of BAIAS project
Effective immediately, the Health Care Authority is shutting down its Benefits Administration and Insurance Accounting System (BAIAS) project. This regrettable decision is based on the state's severe revenue shortfall, and the likelihood that HCA would be unable to secure funding for the project either through the bond market or other means. The HCA is currently identifying all the close out activities needed, as well what we must do to improve our current systems so they can support the agency through the next several years.
The HCA would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank our sister state agencies and institutions; our contractors; and most of all, HCA staff for their support and dedication to this important project. Their hard work would surely have resulted in a highly successful endeavor.
