About the Health Care Authority

Coordinated health care, with quality results, at the lowest cost

The Washington State Health Care Authority purchases health care for more than 2 million Washingtonians through two programs — Washington Apple Health (Medicaid) and the Public Employees Benefits Board (PEBB) Program. We work with partners to help ensure Washingtonians have access to better health and better care at a lower cost.

Our programs include:

Washington Apple Health (Medicaid)

In Washington State, Medicaid is called Washington Apple Health. Coverage is free for those who qualify.
